Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: Regioselective Addition of Boron Moiety to Diynes: Synthesis of Boron-Containing Unsaturated Compounds A process of copper-catalyzed proto- /carboboration of 1,3-diynes, providing access to an array of conjugated substituted boryl enynes and diboryl dienes in a regioselective manner is provided together with hexa-substituted dienes and multi-arylated-1, 3-butadienes (MAB) as unique stable compounds therefrom. All positions of enynes and dienes can be efficiently manipulated using this methodology. Various sp3 or sp2 carbon electrophiles were successfully coupled using this present methodology. The synthesized enyne can be further functionalized with another fold of boron reagents and electrophiles to deliver a variety of branched dienes with a boron functional handle. More preferably, one-pot sequential addition of boron reagent leads to highly conjugated boryl dienes starting from 1,3-diynes. Cross-coupling reactions were carried out with boron end groups on densely substituted 1,3-enynes and dienes, opening avenues for the modular synthesis of highly conjugated enynes and dienes.
