MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611096059 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 08, 2026, for Refrigerable Passive Cooling Insert System For Bedding Articles.
Inventor includes Dr. Shilpa Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a refrigerable passive cooling insert system (100) for incorporation into pillows, mattresses, cushions and other bedding articles. The cooling insert system (100) comprises a moisture-absorbing top layer (101), a dome chamber insulation structure (102), a refrigerable phase-change material (PCM) gel pad (103), a dome base layer (104) and a foam base layer (105). The dome chamber insulation structure (102) comprises a plurality of enclosed air pockets that regulate heat transfer from a user to the refrigerable PCM gel pad (103), thereby prolonging the cooling duration. The refrigerable PCM gel pad (103) is removably received within the dome base layer (104) for refrigeration and repeated reuse. The moisture-absorbing top layer (101) maintains a dry sleeping surface and is detachable for cleaning. The modular construction provides prolonged passive cooling, improved comfort, moisture management, easy maintenance and operation without electrical power, and is adaptable for both pillow and multi-zone mattress applications.
