MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126380 A) filed by J. J. College Of Engineering And Technology on October 23, 2026, for Recycled Cullet Glass And Silica Fume As A Partial Replacement Material In High Strength Concrete.

Inventors include Mr. B. Jose Ravindra Raj; Dr. P Mathiyalagan; Dr. N. Suriya; K. Sivaprakash; and M. Velusamy.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a concrete composition and method of preparing concrete using recycled cullet glass and silica fume as partial replacement materials. Waste glass is cleaned, crushed and graded to ensure it meets the size requirements after passing through a 4.75 mm sieve for replacement of a part of natural fine aggregate; a portion of Ordinary Portland Cement is replaced by silica fume. The illustrated mix per cubic metre is 405 kg of cement, 45 kg silica fume, 650 kg of sand, 72 kg cullet glass, 1050 kg granite aggregate, 145 kg water and 6 kg polycarboxylate ether admixture. The specimens are mixed, cast, compacted and cured and then tested for compressive strength and flexural strength. The reported series indicates that the mix designated as M3 had the greatest 28-day compressive strength (44.6 MPa) and the flexural strength (5.8 MPa) was also the highest. But the source does not specify which proportions of replacement were used in the mix. The method allows recycling glass and byproducts from industry in the concrete manufacturing process.
