Inventors include Vinod Aggarwal; Ramesh Kumar; and Sandeep Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT “Recovery of Lithium from Lithium-ion batteries” The present invention relates to a method of recycling lithium from battery material. The present invention provides a method for processing lithium ion batteries, particularly lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and the recovery of at least some lithium therefrom. In an aspect, the method include preprocessing of the lithium-ion batteries; suspending the pre-processed lithium ion batteries in an acid solution and adding an oxidizing agent with simultaneous oxygen purging, to form a leaching solution having a first concentration of lithium; filtering the leaching solution to remove residual solids and obtain a lithium rich solution having a second concentration of lithium; purifying the lithium rich solution by precipitating and filtering impurities to obtain a purified lithium rich solution having a third concentration of lithium; and precipitating the lithium in the purified lithium rich solution to generate lithium compounds, by adding a precipitant.
