MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641115712 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 28, 2026, for Reconfigurable Electromagnetic Excitation Device With Tunable Orthogonal Resonators.
Inventor includes M. Ummal Momeen.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The invention discloses a planar microwave antenna system (180) configured to generate a homogeneous near-field microwave magnetic field with selectable polarization (190). The system comprises an orthogonal pair of coupled resonator assemblies (170, 210) disposed on a printed circuit board (200). Each resonator assembly includes two loop-gap resonators (11, 12) formed as conductive traces (31, 32) on the printed circuit board (200), each loop-gap resonator incorporating an adjustable capacitive gap (34). The adjustable capacitive gap (34) comprises a variable effective dielectric region (41) tuned using a threaded tuning screw assembly (80, 90) inserted from a bottom side (220) of the printed circuit board (200). The tuning enables independent resonance frequency adjustment of each resonator assembly (170). A matching device (152) is integrated to provide impedance matching to a microwave input. The orthogonal configuration enables linearly and circularly polarized microwave magnetic fields (190) with improved field uniformity and operational bandwidth performance.
