Abstract: Recombinant microorganisms having reduced activity of endogenous nucleoside monophosphate phosphohydrolases (EC 3.1.3.5 or EC 3.1.3.6), endogenous ribonucleotide monophosphatases (EC 3.1.3.5), endogenous nucleotide triphosphate pyrophosphohydrolases (EC 3.6.1.56), and/or endogenous 5'-ribonucleotide phosphohydrolases (EC 3.1.3.5) relative to parental microorganisms; and engineered to increase activity of a pathway that utilizes cytidine triphosphate (CTP). The recombinant microorganisms can be used in methods for producing isoprenoids and/or methods for increasing recycling of cytidine monophosphate (CMP) to cytidine triphosphate (CTP).
