MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202524037789 A) filed by Devashish De on April 18, 2025, for Recognition Ring.

Abstract: While in the military there is a concept of identity disc that can be worn with Personal Number , Name and Rank , Religion and Blood Group , there are no similar devices for civilians who may die enmasse in case of a catastrophe . While the law permits a period of seven years for declaring one as dead , this innovation works on the idea of mankind using marriage rings after vows , religious or faith based amulets for protection and similar common jewelry which have universal appeal as seen as a civilizational practice . The inventor has arrived at a brass broad ring with coded inscriptions , splits and holes to create a signature Recognition Ring that can be worn as an earring , finger ring , pendant or even as a toe ring . In the event of death simple stacking of rings till their destruction or transfer to next of kin can ensue . In a catastrophic situation there may not be electricity available for many days for biometric systems to function . So a Recognition Ring may prevail. The information on it can be a tattoo as well .
