MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641104400 A) filed by Srm Trp Engineering College on August 31, 2026, for Real-Time Transformer Monitoring System For Anomaly Detection, Load Imbalance And Power Loss Identification.

Inventors include Sam D; Selva Parath M; Siva C; Sooriyaa Vg; and Maruvarasi K.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: The present invention is a real-time system for the monitoring of electrical transformers to ensure the efficiency of power distribution systems. The system monitors the sensors and smart meters of the electrical transformer to collect data on the voltage, current, temperature, load, consumer usage of electricity, etc. The data is then analyzed to identify any abnormality or anomaly in the working of the transformer, the imbalance of the load on different phases of the electrical supply system, the power loss through the transformer by comparing the output with the total consumer usage of electricity. The system is also able to identify any abnormal conditions such as the variation of the load or the usage of electricity, which may lead to power losses or electricity theft. Thus, the present invention is a real-time system for the monitoring of the electrical transformer to ensure the efficiency of the power supply system.
