Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a real-time tracking and smart information system for local public buses, particularly suitable for tier-2 cities, small towns, and municipal transportation networks. The system comprises a GPS-based tracking module installed in buses, a seat occupancy detection subsystem, a cloud-based processing server, an ETA prediction engine, and a web/mobile passenger interface. The GPS module continuously transmits real-time location and speed data, while occupancy sensors monitor seat availability and generate passenger occupancy information. The cloud server processes the received data, calculates estimated arrival times for upcoming bus stops, and maintains route, schedule, and frequency information. The processed information is displayed to passengers through a user application, enabling live bus tracking, seat availability monitoring, route visualization, and journey planning. The invention reduces passenger waiting time, minimizes overcrowding, improves public transport transparency, enhances operational efficiency, and provides a cost-effective smart mobility solution for urban and semi-urban public transportation systems.
