MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641104998 A) filed by J. J. College Of Engineering And Technology on September 01, 2026, for Real Time Road Sign Detection For Speed Control And Accident Prevention.
Inventors include Ms. S Usha Nandhini; Dr. P Mathiyalagan; Dr. S Sumithra; V Siva Karthikeyan; R Sharan Joy; M Sathish; and S Makeshvaran.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The real-time road sign detection system is made to make the roads safer and to help with driving. It has a camera on the vehicle that takes pictures of the road all the time. These pictures are then looked at using computer programs and deep learning algorithms to find road signs such as speed-limit signs, STOP signs, and warning indications. The information that the system identifies is forwarded to the processing unit for more work and to make decisions. The traffic sign that the system finds is shown on a screen so the driver can see it away. The system also gives the driver warnings that they can see and hear when they need to. If the system sees a speed limit sign it can automatically make the vehicle go slower using a special control unit. The system uses computer vision, small computers and Internet of Things technology to find traffic signs and respond right away. The real-time road sign detection system helps drivers follow the traffic rules reduces mistakes that people make and lowers the chance of accidents on the road. The suggested system provides a reliable and intelligent approach that will make vehicles safe and improve transportation. The real time identification of traffic signs is a very important aspect that can help improve safety on roads. The other advantage of this system is that it helps to have intelligent driving through proper identification of traffic signs.
