MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641106125 A) filed by Ifet College Of Engineering on September 03, 2026, for Real-Time Edge-Based Traffic Violation Detection And Evidence Generation System.
Inventors include K. Deepasri; and V. Bakyalakshmi.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: A real-time traffic violation detection system (100) comprises a traffic image acquisition unit (102), an edge computing unit (104), an image preprocessing unit (106), a multi-class object detection unit (108), a temporal object tracking unit (110) and a contextual violation determination unit (112). Successive traffic image frames are locally processed to detect vehicles, riders, protective helmets, traffic-signal states and registration-plate regions, while persistent identities are maintained across multiple frames for rider-to-vehicle association and spatial-temporal validation of helmetless riding, multiple-rider and red-light violations. Upon violation confirmation, a vehicle registration identification unit (114) extracts registration information, and a violation evidence generation unit (116) generates a structured evidence record comprising violation type, registration information, timestamp and corresponding image evidence. A communication unit (118) selectively transmits the confirmed evidence record to a central enforcement system (120) without continuous transmission of the acquired traffic video.
