MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641079711 A) filed by Sona College Of Technology on June 29, 2026, for Real-Time Ai And Iot Enabled Crowd Surveillance And Autonomous Public Safety System.

Inventors include Nandini V; and Rajheswari K C.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a real-time Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) enabled public gathering surveillance system for crowd behavior monitoring, rush threat anticipation, and autonomous safety activation. The system comprises a data acquisition module, an edge processing module, an AI-powered risk analysis engine, an alert and communication layer, and a cloud-based analytics platform. Multi-modal real-time data is collected from CCTV cameras, audio sensors, environmental sensors, infrastructure sensors, and wearable devices for monitoring crowd density, movement patterns, and abnormal behavior. The edge processing module performs local analysis for low-latency response, while the AI engine generates a Crowd Risk Index (CRI) to predict overcrowding, panic propagation, crowd turbulence, and stampede risks. When risk exceeds a threshold, the system automatically activates safety measures including emergency exits, crowd redirection, access control, and emergency alerts, thereby improving public safety and reducing crowd-related disasters.
