Inventors include Dr. Jitendra Pal Singh; Dr. Ashish Kumar Mall; Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Maurya; Dr. Anupam Pratap Singh; Dr. Virendra Kumar; and Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to rare earth ion-doped cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanomaterials comprising one or more rare earth dopant ions selected from Ce3+, Eu3+, Tb3+, Er3+, Nd3+, Sm3+, and Dy3+ incorporated into the CdS wurtzite crystal lattice at concentrations of 0.5 to 10 mol%. The nanomaterials are synthesized through both chemical co-precipitation and biogenic green synthesis methods using plant extracts. Comprehensive characterization using XRD, SEM, TEM, FTIR, UV-Visible spectroscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy confirms enhanced structural and optical properties including reduced crystallite size, modified band gap, and enhanced photoluminescence with rare earth-specific emission. The nanomaterials demonstrate significantly enhanced multifunctional applications including improved photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes, antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, selective anticancer cytotoxicity, and superior bioimaging and biosensing capabilities compared to u
