The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a Rapid Transition Periosteal Instrument (RTPI), a multifunctional, dual-ended surgical handpiece designed to integrate sharp dissection and blunt tissue reflection into a single, ergonomically balanced platform for oral surgery and dental implantology. The device addresses the critical clinical need for "site-lock" visual continuity and occupational safety by eliminating the requirement for instrument exchange between the incision and reflection phases of mucoperiosteal flap management. The core mechanical innovation comprises a specialized "Push-and Twist" safety-locking assembly, featuring a protective cap with internal spiral slots that securely interface with external locking pins on the scalpel blade holder. This two stage mechanical engagement transforms the scalpel handle into a high-torque, nonslip grip while completely encasing the used blade within a rigid, autoclave-stable barrier, thereby preventing percutaneous injuries (sharps injuries) during the application of lateral force. By streamlining the surgical workflow, the invention reduces total operative time, enhances tactile sensitivity for the preservation of the periosteum, and provides a fail-safe ergonomic solution that optimizes both clinician safety and procedural efficiency in complex maxillofacial and implant surgical protocols.
