MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611080592 A) filed by Chitkara University on June 30, 2026, for Rapid Gluten Detection Device.

Inventors include Mr. Shiva Kushwaha; Mr. Sahil Katyal; Mr. Shaun Camester; and Dr. Divya Dheer.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses rapid gluten detection device (100). It comprises an outer casing (102), a pore-grater tip (104), a pressure-activated blister (106), a snap handle (108), a volumetric metering valve (110), an extraction chamber (112), a capillary microchannel (114), a detection zone (116), a transparent readout window (118), and a regeneration port (120). The pore-grater tip (104) directly collects gluten-containing particles from a solid food surface, while the pressure-activated blister (106), actuated by the snap handle (108), releases a pre-loaded extraction solvent through the volumetric metering valve (110) into the extraction chamber (112). The extracted analyte-containing solution is passively transported through the capillary microchannel (114) to the detection zone (116), where a Molecularly Imprinted Polymer generates a colorimetric signal visible through the transparent readout window (118). The regeneration port (120) restores the detection zone (116), enabling multiple test cycles in a portable, battery-free device. Reference
