The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: Present disclosure provides a range extension in electric vehicle using the electric motor with integrated piezoelectric crystals. The strategical arrangement of piezoelectric material on the rotor along with the permanent magnets helps in the reduction of airgap flux present between the stator and the rotor. Further, the outward force generated by the rotor once a minimum speed is achieved contributes to application of stress on the piezoelectric crystal which leads to the generation of electric current in the negative daxis current direction. The negative d-axis current generation by the piezoelectric crystal reduces the overall d-axis current requirement that was earlier drawn from the battery thus, resulting in to reduction of overall battery current requirement. As the battery current requirement gets reduced therefore, the battery current may contribute to range extension in the electric vehicle. [FIG. 5]
