MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511023195 A) filed by Sanskriti University on March 15, 2025, for Railway Sleeper Defections Detection Device.

Inventors include Niladri Sekhar Bhattacharjee; and Bhawana Saraswat.

Abstract: A railway sleeper defections detection device, comprising an inverted U-shaped body 101 positioned on a railway track, a touch interactive display panel 102 installed on body 101 receives user input commands, an imaging unit 103 integrated in body 101 determine distance between adjacent sleepers, a T-shaped bar 104 installed on body 101 attached with a circular framework 105 configured with multiple extendable rods 106 to extend/retract over sleeper, multiple track wheels 107 arranged underneath body 101 provide mobility to body 101 over ballast surface, a gimbal arrangement integrated with rods 106 provide two axis movement to framework 105 and rods 106 for aligning with sleepers to facilitate fine tuning of rod’s position, a speaker 108 produce audio signals notifying user, an electronically controlled nozzle 109 arranged on bar 104 configured with a multi-sectioned chamber 110 spray pre-fed colour coded ink on defected sleeper for further indicating user regarding defections.
