MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511021680 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges on March 11, 2025, for Railway Obstacle Detection System With Lora-Based Alerts And Audio Announcements.

Inventors include Ms. Neha Sharma; Ms. Mankiran Kaur; and Mr. Kabir.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a railway safety system for detecting obstacles on railway tracks and preventing train collisions. The system comprises a plurality of pyroelectric sensors positioned along the railway track to detect heat signatures of objects. A LORA-based communication module transmits detection signals to at least one gateway, which demodulates and forwards them to a central server for real-time analysis. Upon confirming an obstacle, an alert signal is generated, activating an alarm system to warn train operators and control centers. Additionally, a latch room control unit generates audio alerts, announcing the distance between an approaching train and the detected entity. Beneficially, the system ensures continuous monitoring with minimal power consumption, offers modular integration into existing railway infrastructure, and enhances safety through real-time alerts. The invention provides a cost-effective, scalable, and efficient railway safety solution. FIG. 1
