MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621045071 A) filed by Modsonic Instruments Manufacturing Company Private Limited on April 08, 2026, for Rail Weld Inspection Trolley Based System With Dual-Axis Sensor Positioning Mechanism.

Inventor includes Patel Uneesh Udayan.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT RAIL WELD INSPECTION TROLLEY BASED SYSTEM WITH DUAL-AXIS SENSOR POSITIONING MECHANISM A rail weld inspection system (100) comprises a trolley assembly (101) with a load-bearing frame (401), a chassis (103) carried by the trolley assembly (101), and an X-axis sensor assembly (108) disposed within the chassis (103). The chassis (103) comprises end plates (301) each formed with a groove (307), a belt drive unit with a belt (312) routed within the groove (307) and profile-adaptive idlers (24), and a bottom guide mechanism (314) configured as a retractable unit. The X-axis sensor assembly (108) comprises mechanically coupled opposite-hand lead screws (208) for weld-centric symmetric sensor spacing adjustment, a linear guide (222) supporting a dual-sensor carriage with sensor assemblies (210), and belt attachment mounts (206) engaged with the belt (312) for enabling translation along a rail profile. The system provides improved defect detection accuracy through symmetric sensor positioning and belt-driven translation along complex rail geometries.
