Abstract: Rail vehicle and balise for a railroad installation The invention relates, inter alia, to a balise (30) for installation in or next to a track bed of a railroad installation (1) and for transmission of balise signals to passing rail vehicles. In accordance with the invention there is provision for the balise to comprise at least two antennas (35a, 35b), which are each suitable for generation of an electromagnetic field, wherein the antennas (35a, 35b) are able to be activated individually by a control facility (40) of the balise and wherein the control facility (40) is embodied in such a way that it switches continuously during its operation between at least two activation modes, which differ in their activation of the antennas (35a, 35b).
