Abstract: RAG-Bench India: A System for Automated Evaluation and Configuration Recommendation of Retrieval-Augmented Generation Pipelines on Indian Domain Corpora. The present invention relates to a computer-implemented system for benchmarking, evaluating, and configuring Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines applied to Indian domain corpora. The system comprises a domain-specific annotated benchmark of question-answer instances from Indian legal, educational, government, and agricultural sources; a modular RAG pipeline supporting interchangeable chunking strategies, retrieval mechanisms, and large language model backends; and an automated evaluation framework configured to compute faithfulness, answer relevance, context recall, and context precision metrics. Statistical analysis identifies pipeline components with significant effects on output quality. A trainable configuration recommendation engine generates pipeline recommendations based on document type and query type. The system further incorporates a hallucination verification layer configured to validate generated claims against retrieved evidence and an adaptive optimization engine configured to automatically reconfigure pipeline components and regenerate responses when evaluation metrics fall below predefined threshold values, thereby improving answer reliability and reducing hallucinations.
