MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621099854 A) filed by Dr. Shruti J. Raval on August 19, 2026, for Radially Expandable Workholding Apparatus Utilizing A Deformable Pressure Medium.
Inventor includes Dr. Shruti J. Raval.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT A radially expandable workholding apparatus comprises an arbor body having an axial pressure passage communicating directly with an oblique piston- receiving bore. A deformable pressure medium is confined within the passages. A threaded piston in the oblique bore receives an actuating grub screw and has an enlarged chamber-facing bore containing a separate metallic force-transmitting disc between the grub screw and medium. Advancement of the grub screw displaces the disc and compresses the medium. Pressure is transmitted through the axial passage and three radial transfer holes spaced approximately 120° apart to a region beneath a shrink-fitted, thin-walled cup. The pressure expands a smooth cylindrical portion of the cup into gripping engagement with an internal bore of a gear or other bore- containing workpiece. Retraction of the grub screw reduces pressure and releases the workpiece. Opposite conical centring recesses permit mounting between machine- tool centres.
