Abstract: This work presents a Quantum-Resistant Hyper-Chaotic Image Encryption System for Secure IoT Communications. The system is specifically used for securing the image data transfer in IoT communications from not only traditional cyber-attacks but also quantum computing attacks. A post-quantum cryptographic scheme is used for key generation and distribution, and hyper-chaotic map is used for performing image scrambling, confusion, and diffusion functions. The system has the ability to break the correlation between the pixels, increase the randomness in the system, and create a large key space to make it more secure. The images secured by the system have a high resistance against statistical attack, differential attack, brute-force attack, and quantum attack. The system is lightweight and efficient and can be used in real-time for IoT systems. From the experimental evaluations of information entropy, NPCR, UACI, correlation coefficient, PSNR, SSIM, and computational efficiency, it is found that the proposed system performs better than the traditional image encryption schemes.
