Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a quantum-powered weather forecasting system (100) comprising a meteorological data acquisition module (102) that acquires meteorological data, and a data encoding module (104) that encodes the meteorological data into a quantum state representation. A problem formulation module (106) constructs a cost Hamiltonian representative of a weather prediction optimization problem, and an enhanced quantum approximate optimization processing engine (108), coupled to a quantum processing unit (112), executes a parameterized quantum circuit comprising alternating cost and mixer unitary operators, employing adaptively initialized and updated variational parameters. A classical optimizer module (110) iteratively updates the variational parameters based on a measured expectation value of the cost Hamiltonian, and a forecast generation module (114) generates a weather forecast output based on an optimized quantum state, for display via an output interface (116), thereby enabling accelerated convergence and improved accuracy of quantum-based weather forecasting.
