MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641115420 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 26, 2026, for Quantum-Magnetometric Soil-Nutrient Quantification Apparatus With Closed-Loop Variable-Rate Fertigation Control.

Inventors include Dr. R. Manjula; and Shlok Kumar Goenka.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT QUANTUM-MAGNETOMETRIC SOIL-NUTRIENT QUANTIFICATION APPARATUS WITH CLOSED-LOOP VARIABLE-RATE FERTIGATION CONTROL A quantum-magnetometric soil-nutrient quantification apparatus comprises an in-situ soil probe (101) configured to extract pore-water from a root zone, and an ion-responsive magnetic transducer cartridge (102) operatively coupled to the in-situ soil probe (101). The ion-responsive magnetic transducer cartridge (102) comprises a plurality of wells, each well containing an ion-selective stimulus-responsive hydrogel carrying docked superparamagnetic nanoparticles, wherein partitioning of a target macronutrient ion into the hydrogel alters a separation between the superparamagnetic nanoparticles and an adjacent nitrogen-vacancy diamond to produce a magnetic-field variation representative of a concentration of the target macronutrient ion. A nitrogen-vacancy diamond sensor head (201) senses the magnetic-field variation through optically detected magnetic resonance. An optical pump and microwave excitation assembly (202) optically pumps the nitrogen- vacancy diamond sensor head (201) and provides microwave excitation about a spin resonance of the nitrogen-vacancy diamond. A photodiode readout (203) detects spin-dependent fluorescence and outputs a signal encoding the magnetic-field variation. A processing unit (300) maps the magnetic-field variation to a per-nutrient concentration value. A hardware safety interlock module (400) gates a dosing command based on per-nutrient dosing ceilings. A variable-rate fertigation actuation system (500) dispenses fertilizer in accordance with the gated dosing command.
