MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641119325 A) filed by Cvr College Of Engineering on October 06, 2026, for Quantum Computing-Based Multi-Dimensional Feature Extraction For Diabetic Retinopathy Detection.

Inventor includes Dr. Annapurna Gummadi.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: This invention presents a multi-dimensional feature extraction framework based on quantum computing that improves the resilience, speed, and accuracy of detecting diabetic retinopathy (DR) from retinal fundus pictures. The suggested system makes use of hybrid quantum–classical optimization, quantum parallelism, and variational quantum circuits (VQCs) to extract intricate spatial, textural, and vascular aspects that are usually challenging to capture with traditional methods. A Quantum Multi- Dimensional Feature Extractor (QMDFE) is included into the process, which uses amplitude and angle encoding methods to encode retinal picture patches into quantum states. A Quantum-Assisted Classification Module that has been taught to categorize DR severity levels (No DR, Mild, Moderate, Severe, Proliferative) with improved generalization capabilities across various datasets is also included in the invention. Comparing the experimental findings to conventional CNN-based techniques, it is evident that the former significantly reduces processing costs while improving detection accuracy.
