Abstract: Asset management is a significant term in any sector or organization in which it is applied for the purpose of tracking, monitoring, and maintaining physical assets such as equipment, tools, and electronic devices. The conventional methods of asset tracking, such as the application of physical diary systems and spreadsheets, are time-consuming, error-prone, and inefficient for the purpose of managing asset tracking on a large scale. To address the issues related to the conventional methods of asset management, this paper proposes a “QR Code-based Asset Management System.” The proposed system has the following characteristics: It has the ability to store asset information such as asset ID, asset name, department, location, and purchase details in a centralized way, thus allowing all the details related to the asset to be stored in one place. It will provide unique QR codes associated with the asset, and this QR code will be attached to the asset after printing the code by the system. Using this code, the authorized person will be able to retrieve the details of the asset by scanning the code using the phone or the QR code scanner. This is because assets can be easily identified and traced. The system that has been developed is useful for an industrial setting, an academic setting, a business setting, or a warehouse setting. In conclusion, the proposed method is secure, cost-effective, and easy to use.
