MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621093883 A) filed by Shwetlana Sharadrao Shambharkar; Manoj Gangadhar Damale; Rashmi Suresh Chouthe; Santosh Dattatray Shelke; Shital Shivaji Chavan; and Rahul Padmakar Kshirsagar on August 03, 2026, for Purine-Scaffolded Schiff Base Derivativessynthesis And Pharmaceutical Applications Thereof.

Inventors include Shwetlana Sharadrao Shambharkar; Manoj Gangadhar Damale; Rashmi Suresh Chouthe; Santosh Dattatray Shelke; Shital Shivaji Chavan; and Rahul Padmakar Kshirsagar.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel purine-based Schiff base derivatives of general Formula (I), (I) comprising a 2,6-diaminopurine scaffold linked to substituted aromatic aldehydes through an azomethine (–C=N) linkage. The invention further relates to processes for preparing the compounds by microwave-assisted condensation and to pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds. The synthesized derivatives are characterized using spectroscopic and analytical techniques and evaluated for molecular docking against epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), antioxidant activity, cytotoxicity, and anticancer activity. The disclosed compounds exhibit biological activity and are useful for the treatment of cancer and oxidative stress-related disorders. In particular, Compound 35 (N²-[(2,5- dimethoxybenzylidene)]-7H-purine-2,6-diamine) demonstrates enhanced anticancer activity and may serve as a lead compound for further pharmaceutical development.
