MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641115711 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 28, 2026, for Protected Adaptive Pairwise Sensor Fusion System For Sub-Threshold Compound Hazard Detection And Automated Mitigation.

Inventors include Dr. S. Dilipkumar; Goureesankar S Nair; Aaditya Tripathi; and Aditya Sridhar.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a microcontroller-based multi-parameter compound hazard detection and mitigation apparatus configured to detect and respond to hazardous conditions in an enclosed environment. The apparatus comprises heterogeneous sensing channels (101–105) for gas, temperature, humidity, flame and illuminance, and a normalization layer (200) having adaptive baseline registers (201), dispersion estimators (202), deviation normalizers (203) and a statistic protection gate (205). Standardized sensor deviations are combined by a pairwise-interaction fusion module (301) to generate a Composite Hazard Index incorporating individual severity and compound interactions. A band classifier (302), absolute backstop comparator (303) and three-path arbiter (304) independently evaluate hazard conditions and select the highest applicable response level. An actuation layer (400) operates a ventilation motor (401), servo vent actuator (402), audible alarm (403) and RGB indicator (404) according to graduated hazard bands. A communication layer (500) provides wireless transmission, persistent storage and local/browser monitoring while protected adaptive statistics prevent hazards and mitigation responses from corrupting reference conditions.
