MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631080749 A) filed by Kalinga Institute Of Industrial Technology Kiit Deemed To Be University on June 30, 2026, for Prosthetic Limb Design Optimization Using Metaheuristic Algorithms.
Inventor includes Samal, Padarbinda.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for optimizing prosthetic limb design includes setting input parameters including a population size, an iteration number, and upper and lower bounds of decision variables, wherein the decision variables include limb length, cross-sectional area, material density, and joint stiffness, and wherein the upper and lower bounds define a search space. The method includes generating an initial population of candidate solutions within the search space and evaluating an objective function for the initial population, wherein the objective function represents prosthetic limb weight. The method includes applying a metaheuristic optimization algorithm to update the decision variables across iterations and comparing objective function values of candidate solutions while updating the decision variables. The method includes determining parameters when the metaheuristic optimization algorithm converges toward a global solution, wherein the parameters minimize prosthetic limb weight while satisfying structural constraints.
