MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621082566 A) filed by Anisha Rajkumar Kantikar on July 04, 2026, for Production Of Biodegradable Bioplastic Using Manihot Esculenta (cassava) Powder And Linum Usitatissimum (flaxseeds) Seeds Mucilage..
Inventor includes Anisha Rajkumar Kantikar.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: While plastic has been a crucial part of our lives, its negative impact on the environment has led to research into bioplastics. This invention focuses on extracting polysaccharides from plants, resulting in an eco-friendly and cost-effective bioplastic production process that does not require pre-treatment chemicals or enzymatic treatment, thereby reducing production costs. To create the bioplastic film, Manihot esculenta powder and Linum usitatissimum seed mucilage are mixed with plasticizers (glycerol) and then dried in a hot air oven. The bioplastic film's biodegradability, water absorption, and tensile strength were tested, and the presence of starch facilitates fungal growth, resulting in biodegradation and the production of biofertilizer for plants.
