MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617099201 A) filed by Interdigital Ce Patent Holdings, Sas on August 17, 2026, for Processing Management Of Real Environment Data In Extended Reality Applications.

Inventors include Jouet, Pierrick; Hirtzlin, Patrice; Lelievre, Sylvain; Faivre D'Arcier, Etienne; Fontaine, Loic; and Onno, Stephane.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A mechanism is proposed to handle scanned data (3D Model) information from the user's real environment for extended or augmented reality applications. The mechanism relies on a configuration step. Then, the transmission of scanned data or raw data over a network from a user equipment to a server is detailed. The architecture for the user equipment may be a lightweight eXtended Reality (XR) UE requiring the delegation of the extraction of 3D Model of the real scene and the segmentation of this model to the server, an advanced user equipment capable of extracting 3D Model but requiring the delegation of the segmentation task to a server or a high-end user equipment capable of performing locally the extraction of the 3D model for standalone usage.
