The material processing apparatus (100) comprises a processing chamber (102) configured to receive materials for thermal processing, and a processed fluid transfer device (104) positioned within the processing chamber (102). In addition, the processed fluid transfer device (104) comprises a first end (104a) configured to prevent materials from entering while allowing processed fluid to pass through, a second end (104b), and at least one slot (106) formed along a length and circumference of the processed fluid transfer device (104). Further, the slot (106) redirects processed fluid to an upper end of the processing chamber (102) to utilise thermal energy of the processed fluid for passive thermal processing of the material. (
