Abstract: The present disclosure provides a process of preparing a compound of Formula (I), its stereoisomers, solvates or salts thereof, the process comprising: i. reacting a 5 compound of Formula (IV) in presence of an oxidizing agent (A) and an alkaline agent (A) to obtain a compound of Formula (III), its stereoisomers, solvates or salts thereof, and a compound of Formula (II), its stereoisomers, solvates or salts thereof; and ii. treating the compound of Formula (III) with an inorganic acid to obtain the compound of Formula (I), its stereoisomers, solvates or salts thereof. The present 10 disclosure provide biogenic compounds of Formula (I), Formula (II), Formula (III), Formula (IV), and phenol, independently having more than 95% renewable carbon. The present disclosure further provides a composition and a process of obtaining a compound of Formula (I) from cashew nutshell liquid.
