Abstract: The present invention relates to a heterogeneous catalyst with high activity and selectivity inCO2 hydrogenation to short-chain olefins via a methanol-mediated pathway at a relatively lower temperature. The Mn-Zn-Zr/Zn-SAPO-34 bi-functional catalysts exhibited 18% CO2 conversion and 65% CO selectivity at 340 °C temperature, and 20 bar pressure with a total GHSV of 5600 ml gcat-1 h-1 having H2: CO2: N2 in a 3:1:1 volume ratio. With this conversion, short-chain olefins selectivity for Mn- Zn-Zr/Zn-SAPO-34 catalysts was 81% with 3.9% CH4 selectivity. Overall, this catalytic process is unique, as we obtained 18% CO2 conversion, 81% short-chain olefin selectivity (23.5% Ethylene + 39.1% Propylene + 18.4% Butenes), and very low CO selectivity (65%) at a relatively low temperature (340 °C) during the reaction. The present invention offers advantages as it operates at relatively low reaction temperature and displays low CO, and excellent selectivity for short-chain olefins. This invention represents a significant advancement, offering potential reductions in process temperatures and improved selectivity in industrial applications.
