Abstract: Process for valorization of waste cotton textile biomass into renewable bioethanol Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing bioethanol from waste cotton textile material through controlled biomass pretreatment and biological fermentation. The process comprises collecting and size-reducing waste cotton textile material, subjecting the material to acidic and/or ultrasonic pretreatment to disrupt its fibrous structure and enhance carbohydrate accessibility, hydrolysing the pretreated material to release fermentable sugars, and fermenting the resulting hydrolysate using an ethanol-producing microorganism, preferably Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The fermentation broth is subsequently processed for ethanol recovery and analysis. The process provides an effective method for valorizing discarded cotton textile waste into renewable biofuel while reducing textile waste accumulation and dependence on fossil-derived fuel resources.
