The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the crystallization of piroctone from piroctone olamine, comprising the following steps: a) Dissolving piroctone olamine in a mixture of water and a water-miscible solvent to form a solution; b) Heating the solution; c) Adding at least one acid to the solution to convert piroctone olamine to piroctone; and d) Cooling the solution to crystallize piroctone and isolating the crystalline piroctone particles. The process provides piroctone particles exhibiting unimodal particle size distribution and having a d90 of 250 µm or less, without requiring mechanical milling or grinding operations. The crystalline piroctone particles are suitable for use in cosmetic compositions.
