Abstract: ABSTRACT METHOD FOR SYNTHESIS OF NOVEL ETHANE-1,1- DIYLDICARBAMIC ACID AS A COATING POLYMER FOR CARDIAC STENT The invention discloses a novel compound, ethane-1,1-diyldicarbamic acid compound, and a room-temperature process for its synthesis to serve as a biocompatible polymer coating for cardiac stents. The synthesis method involves reacting ethyl carbamate with an aldehyde in a molar ratio in the presence of acetic anhydride, catalysed by a slow addition of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) to form a high purity white precipitate within one hour. Structural configuration is confirmed via FT-IR and Mass Spectroscopy. In vitro blood interaction screening proves that the synthesized compound preserves standard Red Blood Cell (RBC) parameters, including density, viscosity, and osmotic pressure. In silico molecular docking studies against Cytochrome C (PDB ID: 1HRC) yield a safe binding affinity of, confirming low cardiotoxicity. A method for applying the polymer onto cardiac stents using automated spray deposition of an isopropyl alcohol solution produces a stable, uniform biocompatible coating optimized for targeted drug delivery systems.
