MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617077428 A) filed by Orange on June 23, 2026, for Process For Reducing Channels Of A Stereophonic Audio Signal By Optimised Rephasing.
Inventors include Gurin, Alexandre; Lefort, Arnaud; and Ragot, Stphane.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to a processing method for reducing channels of a stereophonic signal (x1(n), x2(n)) in order to obtain a monophonic signal (mk(t, l)), comprising filtering the stereophonic signal (H1(t, k), H2(t, k)) and rephasing applied to one of the channels of the stereophonic signal, the method being such that a step of selecting (203b) the channel on which the rephasing is applied is carried out according to a selection criterion (203a) that depends on a value representative of an energy ratio between the channels of the stereophonic signal. The invention also relates to a processing device for reducing channels that implements the method.
