Abstract: The present invention provides a cyclic process for selective extraction of potassium from seawater/ K-containing aqueous solution. The process comprises, among other steps, the selective precipitation of potassium from seawater/ K-containing aqueous solution as potassium tetraphenylborate by using sodium tetraphenylborate; reacting potassium tetraphenylborate with sodium bromide to precipitates KBr and acetone-methanol solution mixture of sodium tetraphenylborate; further evaporating the solvent mixture reproduces the starting material sodium tetraphenylborate to repeat the cycle again.
