MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541021239 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Tirupati; and Coconut Development Board on March 10, 2025, for Process For Producing Tender Coconut Water With Natural Characteristics And Nutrients, Employing In-House Fabricated Membranes.

Inventors include Dr. Narendra Singh; Prof. Ksms Raghavarao; Pardeep Kumar; Mohammad Irfan; and N Sai Prasanna.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing tender coconut water with natural characteristics and nutrients, employing in-house fabricated membranes. The fabricated membrane is a nanofibrous microfiltration membrane designed for producing tender coconut water with an extended shelf life, while preserving its nutritional value and natural sensory qualities, including its delicate coconut flavor. The fabricated polyacrylonitrile (PAN) based nanofibrous membrane have tuneable porosity which enable 6 months ilization of a product of tender coconut water and a nanofibrous membrane incorporating polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) enable microfiltration of tender coconut water with nutrients retention, acceptable sensorial quality and high shelf life, without adding preservatives and other additives, even at ambient temperature.
