Inventors include Payal Prakash Rajput; Prachi Arun Kulkarni; Omkar K. Kulkarni; and Ganesh M. Kakandikar.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING COCONUT COIR COMPOSITE BRAKE PADS A process (100) for manufacturing a brake pad (300) is disclosed. The process (100) comprises treating (102) coconut coir fibres with alkaline solution to obtain treated fibres, pre-processing (104) the treated fibres by filtering, sun drying, and grinding, adding (106) aluminium oxide, barium sulphate, vermiculite, and graphite, preparing (108) a binding medium by mixing an epoxy resin and a hardener, blending (110) the friction material composition with the binding medium to obtain a mouldable composite material, placing (112) the mouldable composite material into a mould followed by compression moulding, cooling (114) the consolidated brake pad under residual pressure, and finishing (116) the brake pad by buffing, edge chamfering, and bonding to a brake pad mount (200) to obtain the brake pad (300). The disclosed process facilitates preparation of a homogeneous composite material for manufacturing brake pads suitable for automotive braking applications.
