Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The techniques described herein relate to probabilistic shaping with zero-probability points. A transmitter generates multiple bit labels corresponding to one or more bits of a message. The transmitter modulates the one or more bits to multiple constellation points on a constellation graph based on a probabilistic shaping configuration that indicates a mapping of the multiple bit labels to the multiple constellation points. The probabilistic shaping configuration is based on a quantity of the multiple bit labels being greater than a quantity of the multiple constellation points. At least a subset of the quantity of bit labels are assigned a zero probability in the probabilistic shaping configuration. The transmitter transmits the message including the multiple bit labels modulated according to the probabilistic shaping configuration.
