Abstract: A system and method for preserving user privacy in consumer Internet of Things (IoT) devices is disclosed. The invention provides a framework in which data collected by IoT devices is processed locally to reduce sensitivity prior to transmission to external systems. A consent management mechanism enables users to define and dynamically modify permissions governing data collection, storage, and sharing. Secure communication is ensured through encryption protocols and device-level key management. The system further includes monitoring components configured to identify anomalous data access or transmission patterns and to generate alerts or restrict operations in response to detected anomalies. A transparency interface provides users with visibility into data handling activities, thereby enhancing trust and accountability. The disclosed framework reduces reliance on centralized data processing and mitigates risks associated with unauthorized access, data misuse, and lack of user control in IoT environments.
