Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method (600) for privacy-preserving provisioning of a communication service to a user device (102). The method (600) includes receiving, at a server (104), a code generation request (602) comprising a real subscriber identifier of a subscriber account, generating a time-sensitive-alias (604) as a randomly assigned code generated independently of the real subscriber identifier, and transmitting the time-sensitive-alias (606) to the user device (102). The time- sensitive-alias is encoded as a machine-readable optical code presented on a display of the user device (102) for optical scanning by a service distribution terminal (106). The method (600) includes receiving a service provisioning request (608) from the service distribution terminal (106) comprising the time-sensitive-alias and a user-selected service parameter, resolving the real subscriber identifier from the time-sensitive-alias (610), and provisioning the communication service (612) to the subscriber account per the user-selected service parameter.
