Abstract: ABSTRACT PREPARATION OF NITROSYL FLUORIDE AND APPLICATION THEREOF The present disclosure relates to a process for preparing nitrosyl fluoride by reacting hydrofluoric acid, nitric oxide, and gaseous oxygen. Significant control on side reactions and subsequently on formation of impurities make the process efficient and cost effective. The present disclosure provides a stable nitrosyl fluoride wherein the nitrate content is controlled to less than 500 ppm. Further, the present invention discloses the application of nitrosyl fluoride in a process of synthesizing aryl fluoride. The process comprises a step of diazotizing aromatic amines using nitrosyl fluoride, followed by decomposition to obtain the aryl fluoride. Herein, the stable nitrosyl fluoride ensures a high and consistent yield of aryl fluorides having good purity.
