Abstract: The present invention discloses a predictive thermal runaway prevention system and method for electrochemical battery modules. The system comprises a thermochromatic sensing layer configured to generate a visual thermal gradient corresponding to temperature variations within a battery assembly, an optical image acquisition assembly configured to capture thermal gradient images, and a data processing unit configured to generate a two-dimensional thermal map from the captured images. A machine learning engine analyzes spatial and temporal thermal characteristics to identify thermal anomalies, classify fault conditions, predict thermal propagation behavior, and calculate a Time-to-Critical-Temperature (TTCT) parameter. Based on predictive outputs, a control and actuation unit initiates targeted thermal mitigation actions including localized cooling, power limitation, warning generation, or emergency shutdown. The system further includes a secure thermal event logging subsystem for forensic analysis and predictive maintenance, thereby improving battery safety, reliability, and thermal management efficiency
