MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611090816 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering And Technology Niet on July 26, 2026, for Predictive Multi-Modal Hierarchical Landing System For Unmanned Aerial Vehicles On Wave- Disturbed Marine Platforms.
Inventors include Dr. Chitvan Agrawal; and Mr. Amar Pal Yadav.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: A predictive multi-modal hierarchical landing system (100) for an unmanned aerial vehicle (110) on a wave-disturbed marine landing platform (200) is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a multi-modal sensor suite (120) integrating inertial, range, colour-depth, event-based and satellite navigation measurements, an onboard edge computing unit (130), a sensor fusion module (140), a wave-phase prediction module (150) that forecasts platform tilt and heave over a bounded horizon with a confidence score, a hierarchical control module (160) in which a high-level reinforcement-learning policy (161) issues a continuous vertical velocity reference conditioned on the forecast and a low-level flight controller (162) tracks it, and an adaptive compliant landing gear assembly (170) whose actuated telescopic legs are pre-shaped and impedance-controlled to absorb residual tilt and impact energy at touchdown.
