MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641123035 A) filed by Psna College Of Engineering And Technology on October 14, 2026, for Predictive Iot-Based Smart Transformer Monitoring& Early Fault Detection System.

Inventors include Dr. B. Pushpavanam; Veerasakthi M; Pooja Dhanarni M; and Thrisha M.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a predictive Internet of Things (IoT)-based system for monitoring transformer operating conditions and identifying potential faults at an early stage. The system comprises sensors for measuring electrical and physical parameters, including voltage, current, temperature, and vibration, connected to a microcontroller-based sensing unit. The collected data is processed and transmitted wirelessly to a receiver using a LoRa communication module. The receiver displays the measured parameters and transformer status, while a monitoring platform enables data collection, storage, analysis, and visualisation through a web-based dashboard. The analysis module evaluates measured parameters against predefined thresholds and may analyse variations over time to identify abnormal operating conditions. Visual status indicators provide information regarding normal, warning, and critical conditions. The system is designed to provide a modular and cost- effective approach to transformer monitoring, support remote observation of operating parameters, and assist in the early identification of potential faults, thereby supporting timely maintenance and improving the reliability of transformer operation.
