MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631066199 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Patna on May 26, 2026, for Power Management System And Method For Controlling Transient Current In An Islanded Microgrid.
Inventors include Kumar, Amit; Dheer, Dharmendra Kumar; Mallik, Sanjeev Kumar; and Singh, Pradeep Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a power management system (102) and a method (600) for controlling power in an islanded microgrid. The power management system (102) includes one or more distributed generators (104), an induction motor load (110), a power conversion system (106) including a multi-stage power converter, and a controller (108). The controller (108) determines active power and reactive power and generates voltage and frequency reference signals based on the active power and the reactive power. The controller (108) modifies the voltage and frequency reference signals based on feedback indicative of output current and voltage deviation associated with the induction motor load (110). The controller (108) controls switching operation of the power conversion system (106) based on the modified voltage and frequency reference signals to regulate power supplied to the induction motor load (110) during transient conditions including motor starting, thereby limiting transient current and improving stability.
